PLANT CARE GUIDE
PLANT CARE GUIDE
At LEAF & Co., we believe every plant has a personality and with the right care, it can flourish wherever you call home. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just discovering your love for plants, our simple plant care tips will help your plants live their happiest, healthiest life.
Watering
Each plant has its own rhythm. Overwatering is the most common cause of plant stress; so remember: less is almost always more.
• Check the soil: Water when the top inch feels dry.
• Drainage matters: Always use pots with drainage holes to prevent root rot.
Tip: If you’re unsure, wait a day; most indoor plants prefer a little dryness over soggy soil.
Light & Location
Finding the right spot makes all the difference.
• Bright, indirect light: Perfect for Philodendrons, ZZ Plants, Pothos, Monstera, Peace Lillies, Spider plants and more.
• Low light: Try Snake Plants or ZZ Plants for shaded corners.
• Direct sun: Succulents and Cacti love a sunny window or patio spot.
Turn your plants around every few weeks so all sides get their share of sunshine. Plants tend to grow towards the sun.
Feeding & Growth
Just like us, plants need a little boost now and then.
• Use a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
• Skip feeding in the winter months — plants are resting.
• Trim yellowing or dead leaves to keep energy focused on new growth.
Tip: Wipe dust off leaves with a damp cloth; clean leaves photosynthesize better!
Repotting & Refreshing
When roots start circling the bottom or water drains too quickly, it’s time for a new home.
• Choose a pot 1–2 inches larger than the current one.
• Use a quality, well-draining indoor potting mix.
• Gently loosen roots before replanting to encourage healthy spread.
Pest Prevention
Keep your green friends pest-free:
• Check the undersides of leaves weekly.
• Wipe with mild soapy water if you spot pests like gnats or spider mites.
• Avoid overwatering — moisture attracts unwanted guests.
